Proposed road works at Kennedy Road, Queen's Road East and Ship Street in Wan Chai, aim to cope with the future development of a nearby site.
The Government published a notice of the works in the Gazette today.
Sections of existing roads and sidewalks at Kennedy Road and Queen's Road East are to be widened and realigned. An underpass will be built, along with a flyover with a footpath, a lift and staircases connecting Kennedy Road with the proposed site -at Inland Lot No. 8715.
There will also be a 4.5m-wide walkway within the future public open space at Ship Street, staircases leading to Kennedy Road, and associated road widening and improvement works.
Some sections of the existing roads and sidewalks in the area will be closed permanently or temporarily.
The project is scheduled to start in late 2009 or early 2010 for completion around 2014.
The plans and works scheme are available for inspection during office hours at the Central & Western District Office Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central; the Wan Chai District Office Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, 2 O' Brien Road, Wan Chai; and at the District Lands Office, Hong Kong East, 19/F, Southorn Centre,130 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai.
Anyone who objects to the proposed works, the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport & Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before June 8.
