Fare structure set for MTR extension
*

Transport Advisory Committee Chairman Teresa Cheng says the MTR Corporation will follow the existing structure in setting fares of the Tseung Kwan O Extension (Phase II).

At its meeting today the committee was briefed on the progress and fares of the extension, train service details and operational readiness.

Upon commissioning the frequency of trains running between Tseung Kwan O and North Point Stations during peak hours will be enhanced.

As one out of every four trains will run between North Point and LOHAS Park Stations, the headway of trains for Po Lam and Hau Hang Stations will change from two minutes 40 seconds to two minutes 30 seconds at least, and five minutes at most.

"We note the LOHAS Park Station is needed in view of the coming population intake at a new residential development in the area. We understand passengers of Po Lam Station and Hang Hau Station might be slightly affected by the new service arrangements, the MTRC will closely monitor the situation and adopt measures to enable passengers to familiarise with the new arrangements," Ms Cheng said.
