Land registry to close Tuen Mun office
*

The Land Registry's Tuen Mun District Search Office will close from May 5 due to its low usage rate. The registry will redeploy the office's manpower to provide services that are in demand.

After the closure, the owners' corporation registration services previously provided in the office will be taken up by the Tsuen Wan District Search Office on the 11th Floor of the Tsuen Wan Station Multi-storey Carpark Building.

Since the introduction of new Internet services in February 2005,  the number of customers of all the New Territories District Search Offices has been falling steadily. The North and Sai Kung District Search Offices were subsequently closed in April last year.

Another review on the use of the remaining search offices was conducted early this year. The number of customers using the Tuen Mun District Search Office had dropped to a low level so the registry decided to close the office.

The Tuen Mun District Council has been notified of the arrangement and letters have been sent to all owners' corporations in the district.

The department will continue to provide counter search and owners' corporation registration services through its Central Search Office in Queensway Government Offices and the District Search Offices in Sha Tin, Tai Po, Yuen Long and Tsuen Wan. Customers can also conduct online searches.

Search requests can also be sent by post to the registry's Customer Service Manager, 28/F, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong; or faxed to 2523 0065. For enquiries, call 3105 0000.
