Drainage Services Department

Works on trunk sewerage systems in Kam Tin and Au Tau will start on December 29 following the award of a $255 million contract, the Drainage Services Department says. The works are scheduled for completion in mid-2009.

The contract, awarded to Leader Civil Engineering Corporation today, involves the construction of trunk sewers of about 7.5km long with a diameter ranging from 300mm to 1,200mm, associated twin rising mains about 5.7km long ranging in diameter from 250mm to 900mm, and three sewage pumping stations in Au Tau, Kam Tin and Nam Sang Wai.

When completed, the trunk sewerage systems will be able to cope with the sewage demand of the increasing population in these areas.
