Caution issued on slimming product

Health hazard: Slimming product Li Da Dai Dai Hua Jiao Nang has been found to contain an undeclared drug ingredient associated with psychosis.

*

The Department of Health warns people not to buy or consume slimming product Li Da Dai Dai Hua Jiao Nang which contains an undeclared drug ingredient with potentially serious side effects.

A 17-year-old man felt unwell after taking the product bought online last July. He sought treatment at North District Hospital April 15 due to auditory hallucinations. He was transferred to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and discharged on April 18.

The product contains N-desmethyl-sibutramine, an analogue of sibutramine and is associated with psychosis.

People using the product should stop taking it and see a doctor if they feel unwell.
