Anti-smoking chief wins WHO award

Smoking gun: Council on Smoking & Health chairman Dr Homer Tso receives the World Health Organisation's anti-tobacco award from Director of Health Dr Lam Ping-yan.

Council on Smoking & Health chairman Dr Homer Tso has been hailed by the World Health Organisation for his anti-tobacco work.

 

He was given the the Director-General's Award for Leadership in Global Tobacco Control.

 

Director of Health Dr Lam Ping-yan said Dr Tso is an outstanding leader and a veteran advocate in the field.

 

"Through his leadership, COSH has been a strong partner of the Government in keeping the smoking prevalence in Hong Kong below 15%. In addition to showing appreciation to local efforts in anti-smoking, the award also serves as encouragement to local supporters to carry on with their work in future," Dr Lam said.
