Unlicensed food factory shut down
Shut down: Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officers seize cooking items.
*

Food & Environmental Hygiene Department officers have shut down an unlicensed food factory in Sheung Shui, arresting a man and seizing a large quantity of raw and cooked items.

Officers raided a flat in Po Sheung Tsuen, Sheung Shui Wai, shortly before noon. Food, drinks and canned food, three gas cylinders, three refrigerators and some cooking paraphernalia were seized.

A 22-year-old man holding a two-way permit was arrested and charged with operating an unlicensed food factory and failing to keep the premises clean. He was then detained by Police for breaching conditions of stay.

Anyone with information on unlicensed food businesses should call the department's hotline at 2868 0000.

According to the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a $50,000 fine and six months jail.
