*

Consumers are advised not to buy or use the slimming health product Trim Up Plus Bird's Nest. The product, which is not registered under the Pharmacy & Poisons Ordinance, contains a western drug ingredient, sibutramine.

Sibutramine is an appetite suppressant and its adverse effects include increasing blood pressure and heart rate. People with heart or circulatory system problems should not take it.

The Department of Health has instructed the importer to recall the product and surrender it. People who have purchased it should immediately stop use and seek medical advice if they feel unwell, and dispose of it.

They can call the importer's hotline (2660 0688) for matters relating to the recall. For enquiries, call the department's hotline (2319 2839) during office hours.

For weight control, people should observe good dietary practices and exercise. Before using drugs for weight reduction, they should first consult their doctor.
