District Councils to close during Nov election
*
Home Affairs Department

The operation of the 18 District Councils will be suspended from October 2 to December 31 to hold an election on November 23.

The suspension is to provide a level playing field for all candidates, regardless of whether they are an incumbent council member.

During the suspension period, council meetings, activities and functions will cease.

Council members who intend to stand for election should observe the relevant legislation and the guidelines to be issued by the Electoral Affairs Commission on election-related activities.

All complaints about any breach of relevant legislation or the commission's guidelines will be investigated.
