Industrial action has been called off after talks between Citybus and their drivers reached a successful conclusion tonight.

Regarding the dismissal of a union representative, both parties agreed that the incident should be referred to the Labour Tribunal. It will hear the case on September 24.

In response to Citybus drivers' plans to stage a 'go slow' this morning, the Transport Department opened the Emergency Transport Co-ordination Centre.

Citybus drivers and some New World First Bus drivers threatened industrial action after they failed to reach an agreement on pay cuts, a typhoon allowance and other union issues.
