Consumers are urged not to buy and use 237 products manufactured by Australia's Pan Pharmaceuticals (also known as Pan Laboratories).

The appeal was made following the suspension of the firm's licence and the cancellation of the registration of all pharmaceutical products manufactured by it, by Australian drug regulatory authorities.

The manufacturer was found to have significant deficiencies related to the manufacture and quality control of the products during recent inspections.

The Department of Health said about 237 products, mainly over-the-counter supplements, manufactured by the company were registered in Hong Kong.

The department has asked the importers to recall them within 14 days and report the amount recalled and the suggested means of their disposal.

So far, there are no records of Hong Kong people feeling unwell after consuming the products.

Those who have purchased any of the products are advised to stop using them and dispose of them.

Retailers should remove them from shelves and return them to the importers as soon as possible.

The department has set up a special hotline 2572 2068 which will be manned between 9am and 5pm tomorrow for public enquiries on the issue.
