Atypical pneumonia education hits the rails

Please take one: Volunteers hand out atypical pneumonia information leaflets to commuters in Admiralty MTR station.

*

An exhibition and information counters on atypical pneumonia have been erected at six MTR stations to bolster civic education on the virus.

The University of Hong Kong and the MTR Corporation have organised the Fight Against Atypical Pneumonia publicity campaign, which will see more than 200 medical and nursing students from the university volunteering to help educate commuters on the illness.

The most effective way to combat atypical pneumonia is through public education, and the exhibition will be displayed at Hong Kong, Admiralty, Yau Ma Tei, Tsuen Wan, Po Lam and Wong Tai Sin stations for three days.

It details the properties of atypical pneumonia, its treatment and how it can be avoided.

The MTR has employed 150 additional staff to more frequently clean its stations, trains and facilities.
