Mr Yau today discussed environmental protection issues with Malmo Mayor IImar Reepalu during a lunch reception hosted by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in London.
He then visited Malmo's West Harbour to see how a densely built urban environment could be developed into a leading example of sustainable development.
He also visited a Sysav South Scania Waste Company waste incineration plant and a power plant, E.ON, to learn more about their green initiatives.
Mr Yau will attend the 15th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Copenhagen on December 15.
He will share Hong Kong's experiences in formulating strategies and measures to tackle climate change with other participants and draw references from their experiences in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
