Thirty-eight pollution convictions were recorded in July, with the heaviest fine of $60,000 meted out to a company which carried out construction work without a valid permit.

The Environmental Protection Department said 19 of the convictions were for air pollution and 10 for waste disposal, while five were for water pollution and four for noise.
