The Government will hold four briefings to ease the concerns of Kwai Tsing residents about the Government's plan to incinerate residues containing trace quantities of dioxins at the Chemical Waste Treatment Centre at Tsing Yi.
Jointly organised by the Civil Engineering Department and the Kwai Tsing District Office, the briefings will start on Monday. Local residents will be informed about the precautionary measures that the Government will take to ensure the safe and proper disposal of these residues.
Government representatives will also brief the residents on measures for the safe transportation of the residues from To Kau Wan to the Chemical Waste Treatment Centre, and the effectiveness of the incineration process at the treatment centre that will meet the most stringent emission standards for the flue gas.

Meanwhile, the department and the Kwai Tsing District Office have been holding roving exhibitions since mid-March at various locations in Kwai Tsing to help local residents better understand the treatment of residues.
