PDA website offers instant weather updates
*
HK Observatory

Get weather information anytime, anywhere, via the Hong Kong Observatory's newly launched personal digital assistant website.

It carries updated weather warnings, weather reports and forecasts. The latest satellite and radar images, weather charts, rainfall maps and regional weather information can all be downloaded to your PDA.

Most PDAs can access the Internet wirelessly if fitted with suitable accessories. In rapidly changing weather situations, especially during severe weather, hikers, for example, can use the PDA to obtain the most recent updates and decide whether they need to alter their route or seek temporary shelter.

Many shopping malls are now equipped with high-speed wireless internet connections. This allows shoppers to make use of their PDAs for obtaining updated weather information such as rainstorm warnings to plan their activities.

The website also offers information about weather in other world cities, a convenient tool for visitors to Hong Kong interested in conditions at home or those travelling abroad.
