Water at 12 beaches 'good'
*
Environmental Protection Department

Water quality at 12 beaches has been rated 'good' for this weekend by the Environmental Protection Department.

Water quality at Golden Beach and Silverstrand Beach has been rated 'fair'.

All 14 beaches are equipped with shark nets.

Among them, Deep Water Bay Beach, Clear Water Bay Second Beach, Silverstrand Beach and Golden Beach are open year round while others in the Southern District have been open to the public since March 1.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido Beaches - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality.

Peolple are advised not to swim at these closed beaches.

As many beaches are likely to be more polluted than their grades suggest during and after periods of heavy rain, bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
