beach water quality
Grab your swimsuit!: The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at 21 beaches 'good' for this weekend.

The Environmental Protection Department has rated water quality at 21 beaches 'good' for this weekend.

Ten beaches are 'fair', while Ma Wan Tung Wan Beach and Silverstrand Beach are 'poor'.

Seven gazetted beaches - Anglers', Approach, Ting Kau, Casam, Gemini, Hoi Mei Wan and Lido - are closed to swimmers year round because of poor water quality. The public is advised not to swim at these beaches.

The department also reminds beach-goers that many beaches are likely to be more polluted during and after periods of heavy rain.

Therefore, it advises the public not to swim at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rain.
