Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma will attend the 10th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers meeting in Phuket, Thailand on September 4 and 5.

The meeting aims to foster closer economic partnerships and strengthen the financial cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.

During the meeting, Mr Ma will speak on the development of regional bond market.

Focus will be placed on:

* fiscal and financial cooperation in respect of grass-root and small and medium enterprise development;

* review of the benefits of securitisation and a regional bond market; and

* fiscal and financial aspects of regional trading arrangements.

Finance ministers will also exchange views with representatives of the financial and business sectors from member economies on the current global and regional financial situations, as well as the progress of ongoing financial reform and adjustment.
