Public help essential for economic revival: FS
*

Financial Secretary Antony Leung says the Government attaches great importance to public opinion and will enhance communication with various sectors of the community.

To revive Hong Kong's economy, it is necessary to have the co-operation of the public and nurture a stable social environment, he added.

Mr Leung was responding to a Standard & Poor's report that raised questions on whether Hong Kong will achieve the goal under the existing policy environment.

He reiterated that he remains confident in the Government's goal to eliminate its fiscal deficit.

Mr Leung said the Relaunch Hong Kong campaign is important for tackling the deficit, and statistics already show recovery in various industries.

The Government believes the local economy will revive in medium term.
