London calling: Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma meets Bank of England Deputy Governor Sir Andrew Large in London.

*

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma updated top European financial chiefs on Hong Kong's economic situation yesterday, the second day of his week-long promotional trip.

He called on Bank of England Deputy Governor Sir Andrew Large in London to discuss matters relating to the banking industry.

During Mr Ma's meeting with Financial Services Authority Chairman Sir Howard Davies, he exchanged views on financial services regulatory matters.

Before leaving for Frankfurt in the afternoon, Mr Ma attended a luncheon hosted by the HK Association Committee whose members are prominent business executives with strong ties to Hong Kong.

In Frankfurt, Mr Ma updated some of Hong Kong's key business contacts at a dinner co-hosted by the German HK Association, HK Trade Development Council and the HK Economic & Trade Office in Brussels. He also discussed the status and future of the financial market in Hong Kong.

Mr Ma will continue his programme in Frankfurt by visiting the Bundesbank (the Central Bank of Germany), the European Central Bank and the Deutsche Borse (German Stock Exchange).
