Economy boost: Tourism Coalition convenor Philip Chen, Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip and Retail Coalition convenor Selina Chow outline details of this month's We Love HK Campaign. |

The overwhelming public support of the We Love HK campaign has helped revive the local economy and made overseas people feel that Hong Kong has bounced back.
This was the message from Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip today, adding that the campaign has united different sectors.
Mr Ip said the lifting of the WHO and US Centres for Disease Control & Prevention travel advisories can boost tourist confidence in Hong Kong, and called on the public to remain vigilant to ensure the city is safe for travel.
Convenor of Retail Coalition Selina Chow said the Tourism Board will invite media representatives from North America to visit Hong Kong and see it for themselves. Meanwhile, video news releases will be issued to keep overseas markets abreast of Hong Kong's latest situation.
Turning to the campaign, she said it has realised Hong Kong people's spirit of turning a crisis into an opportunity since its launch last month.
Its focus will be extended from tourism to the retail sector this month with more attractive retail offers.
At present, more than 116 award merchants and some 2,000 participating merchants have joined the campaign, with a total value of offers exceeding $10 million made available for redemption.
Convener of the Tourism Coalition Philip Chen said the campaign has stimulated local spending. He called on the public to partake in the campaign to fuel the reviving economy.
He also revealed that the trade is considering a series of measures to attract US tourists in view of the CDC's decision.
