English proficiency test registration opens

*
University Grants Committee

Prospective graduates of University Grants Committee-funded undergraduate degrees for the 2007-08 academic year can register for the Common English Proficiency Assessment Scheme until October 19.

Committee Secretary-General Michael Stone said it will arrange a series of tests from July to May next year. Students who want to register for the tests can check the scheme's website. He said as tests are on a first-come, first-served basis, students should register as soon as possible. The first testing session will be held in early July.

Mr Stone said despite the voluntary nature of the test, about 10,000 final-year students, a record high, participated in the tests last year.
