The allocation results of Primary One discretionary places for next September will be released November 21.
The Education & Manpower Bureau advises parents to bring their copy of the application form for admission and check the results between 9am and 5pm that day or the next at the school to which they have applied.
Registration of successful applicants should be made on November 23 or 24 during school hours.
The bureau said there are 51,178 applicants for discretionary places this year, of whom 26,032 will be offered a place by schools. Of them 12,466 (or 24.36%) are applicants with siblings studying or with parents working in the schools they have applied to, and the remaining 13,566 are selected according to the Points System.
Under the Primary One Admission System, each government or aided school can offer half its places as discretionary places, while the remainder will be reserved for central allocation.
Those who failed to secure a discretionary place or who only opted for central allocation will be invited by letter in early January to join the central allocation exercise on January 21 or 22.
Once children have been allocated a Primary One place, they cannot join the central allocation exercise.
