A two-day job fair will be held at Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill on October 19 and 20, offering more than 6,000 vacancies and the latest information on employment and retraining.

The Retraining & Recruitment Post 2005, run by the Labour Department and the Employees Retraining Board, will be held 11am to 6.30pm. Seventy-four companies from different trades and industries, including catering, retail, property management and security, business service, banking, aviation and manufacturing, will offer vacancies for on-the-spot application. Thirty-seven companies will partake in the fair each day.

The vacancies include restaurant and shop managers, property management and customer service officers, shop and sales assistants, cooks, cashiers, flight attendants, tellers, clerks, sales representatives, beauticians, security guards and cleaning workers.

More than 90% are full-time jobs, with most offering a monthly salary ranging from $5,000 to $9,000. Over 90% require Form 5 education or below. More than 60% are open to job-seekers without relevant experience.

Job-seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. The department will conduct on-the-spot job registration.

The Employees Retraining Board and 10 retraining institutes will give out information on retraining courses and accept on-the-spot applications.
