Gifted students' sense of belonging enhanced
*

More than 900 new recruits of a scheme to aid gifted students have had their sense of belonging and responsibility enhanced at an orientation programme held at Tsuen Wan Town Hall.

The Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Students Scheme, launched in 2001, aims to help nurture students with outstanding potential in leadership, mathematics or sciences. There are more than 3,800 participants.

Speaking at the orientation today, Hong Kong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Tsui Lap-chee encouraged the students to widen their perspectives, develop their potential and contribute to the betterment of society.

Students also shared their experience at the orientation and previewed the scheme's forthcoming activities. This year, the scheme has expanded its scope to include support measures for gifted students in humanities.
