To promote national identity awareness among teachers and students, a series of events straddling National Day will be held from September 23 to October 3.
They will form a programme called China Fortnight which aims to help teachers and students learn more about the motherland.
It will also give teachers the chance to exchange experiences in the promotion of national education.
Secretary for Education & Manpower Professor Arthur Li will launch the programme on September 23, with an exhibition, talks, and an experience-sharing seminar on the promotion of national education in primary and secondary schools.
China Polar Museum Foundation founder Dr Lei Lok-si will speak on "The exploration and development of the three Polars: Experiences and contributions of Chinese".
Another celebrity talk, on "The development and co-operaton in the Greater Zhujiang Delta: challenges and chances", will be given by the HK Policy Research Institute Chairman Yip Kwok-wah on October 3.
On National Day, Chinese Culture on Net Foundation Chairman Professor Leung Ping-chung will give a talk on the promotion of national education through Chinese culture.
Meanwhile, five schools, together with the foundation, the Association of HK Flag Guards and the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, will participate in the exhibition to be held at the HK Teachers' Centre, North Point, from September 24 to October 3.
