Applications for 2,300 short-term vacancies created by the Government under different employment and training projects for people aged 15 to 24 will open tomorrow. This is the second such recruitment exercise.

The vacancies include Tourism Development Assistant, Positive Life Project Assistant, Community Building Assistant and Nature Appreciation Promotion Ambassador. They have a monthly salary of $4,000 and last for six months.

Applications for Community Building Assistant and Nature Appreciation Promotion Ambassador will close on August 28 and application forms should be submitted to Labour Department Job Centres.

The deadline for Tourism Development Assistant and Positive Life Project Assistant submissions is September 5. Application forms may be submitted to the relevant non-government organisations by fax.

Application forms can be obtained from August 26 at all Job Centres or from the department's website.

New university graduates invited to recruitment forum

Meanwhile, Hong Kong residents holding bachelor degrees awarded this year can apply for about 130 vacancies under the Graduate Employment Training Scheme at a recruitment forum organised by the Labour Department and the HK Young Industrialists Council tomorrow.

About 30 companies will accept applications on the spot. They come from different industries and trades, including jewellery, optics, electronics, watches, toys, plastics, textiles, garments and electrical appliances.

The training covers positions such as Human Resources & Administration Assistant, Testing Engineer Trainee, Research & Development Trainee, Technician Trainee, Marketing Trainee, Engineer Trainee, Sales Executive Trainee and Management Trainee, with monthly salaries ranging from $6,000 to $9,000.

They will receive on-the-job training for at least six months at their employers' production plants in Hong Kong or on the Mainland. Those who perform well can keep their positions after the training.

The forum will be held at the Exhibition Gallery, Low Block, City Hall, from 2pm to 5.30pm. Admission is free.
