No bias in foreign maid pay issue: CS
*

Chief Secretary Donald Tsang said the Government is not biased in its handling of the foreign domestic helpers' pay adjustment.

Mr Tsang said the Government reviews the minimum allowable wage for foreign domestic helpers every year and has been handling the issue with an existing policy and mechanism adopted for over 30 years.

In response to media enquiries on the same issue, Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip said the foreign domestic helpers' wage is at a reasonable level when compared with other places like Singapore and the Middle East.

After the proposed adjustment, the minimum allowable wage for foreign domestic helpers will be $3,270.

Mr Ip said the Government will review the mechanism regularly.
