A $50 million donation from the Disaster Relief Fund has been proposed by the Government for Gansu mudslide victims.

The Legislative Council Finance Committee chairman has agreed to convene a special meeting soon to examine the application.

Once funding is approved the Government will consult the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee to provide timely relief to the victims.

The committee will also consider adopting a special mechanism enabling the Government to respond quickly to applications from relief organisations for urgent aid.
