The public must make every effort to maintain stability and stay united if we want to enjoy healthy development across the whole economic, political and social spectrum, Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa says.

People should also work together to ensure Hong Kong and the Mainland develop a good interactive relationship within the One Country, Two Systems framework.

Speaking after meeting with four Liberal Party legislators today, Mr Tung said economic recovery is a matter of community concern.

"In the short term, the recent increase in arrival of Mainland visitors and activities on the logistics front should help us on the unemployment situation," he said.

"In the longer term, CEPA and much closer collaboration with the Pearl River Delta will give us new opportunities for our economic restructuring."

On Basic Law Article 23, Mr Tung reiterated that the next round of consultation will be very comprehensive to win maximum support and understanding from the community at large. There is no timetable for the legislative process.

Other topics discussed during the meeting included logistics, the property market, employment and education.
