280 student bands to compete

October 21, 2017

More than 280 orchestras and bands from primary and secondary schools will compete in the 2017 Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows from November 21 to December 8.

Organised by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department’s Music Office, the programme gives young local musicians an opportunity to take part in musical exchanges and gain performing experience.

This year’s contests cover Chinese orchestras, symphony orchestras, symphonic bands and string orchestras.

Under the baton of former Associate Professor of Conducting at the Sibelius Academy in Finland, Peter Ettrup Larsen, the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band will perform with Assistant Professor of Clarinet from the US's Furman University, Cecilia Kang, as clarinet soloist in the Winners' Final on December 9.

Tickets are available at URBTIX.
