'Gross' animal show to open

June 30, 2016

The "Animal Grossology" exhibition will turn the Science Museum into a colourful spectacle of oddities of the natural world, by introducing animal habits that are both interesting and unusual.

Based on a children's book of the same title, the show examines some of the animal kingdom's unpleasant characteristics and habits. Many of these peculiarities will be demonstrated through robotic animal models and games.

Through the introduction of strange animal features like slimy skin and digestive systems, and habits like blood-sucking and dung-eating, the show presents the fascinating but gross world of animals.

These habits and phenomena, though strange and perhaps unpleasant to humans, give us clues about how animals fight for survival.

The exhibition will also demonstrate scientific facts about intriguing animals and how they play an important role in nature.

Special activities "Animal Party Go Go Go!" and the "Amazing Animal Fun Tour" will be held for young participants to learn through interactive theatre and story-telling.

Presented by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, it runs from July 1 to November 2.
