The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will present the Chaozhou Music Appreciation Lectures in March, as part of its Lingnan Music Series.
In the two lectures speaker Daniel Ng will give an overview of guzheng and string ensemble music of the Chaozhou and Hakka regions with discussions on the melodic structure, modes and characteristics of the genres.
The talks - the "Tranquility & Nuances of Chaozhou & Hakka Guzheng Music" and the "Nourishment & Content Expressed in Chaozhou Xianshi & Hakka Han Music" - will be held on March 3 and 10 at 7.30pm at the Cultural Centre.
They will be conducted in Cantonese.
Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis.
