Strauss opera to be staged

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department and Opera Hong Kong will present Richard Strauss's opera Salome in October to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth.

 

Based on Oscar Wilde's play of the same name, Salome is co-produced by the Slovenian National Theatre Opera & Ballet Ljubljana and Opera Hong Kong.

 

Warren Mok is the producer and Andrejs Zagars is the director, while John Neschling will conduct the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra for the live accompaniment.

 

It will be performed in German with Chinese and English subtitles at 7.30pm from October 9 to 11, and at 3pm on October 12, at the Cultural Centre.

 

Tickets are $150, $300, $450, $660 and $900 at URBTIX.
