The Leisure & Cultural Services Department Music Office’s Youth Symphonic Band will perform band favourites at its annual concert on June 3, including a piece to celebrate the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1997.
The piece,
An-Ching, was written by local composer Prof Richard Tsang to celebrate Hong Kong's anniversary.
The band will perform under the baton of Music Office instructor Pak Wing-heng and guests Colin Touchin, John Cheng and Prof Tsang.
Other pieces include an adaptation of Tchaikovsky's
1812 Overture, Rossini's
Introduction, Theme & Variations, Adam Gorb's
Yiddish Dances for Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Alfred Reed's
Giligia (A Song of Remembrance), Fu Zhang's
Chinese Folk Suite and Rachmaninoff's
Music from Piano Concerto No. 2 in C-minor.
The concert will be held at 3pm on June 3 in Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets are $80, $60 and $40 at URBTIX.
