Suzhou Kunqu Opera Theatre from Jiangsu Province will perform under the consultancy of renowned author Pai Hsien-yung in June, as the opening programmes of the Chinese Opera Festival 2012.
Pai revived the Kunqu mentoring tradition, inviting veterans of the genre to teach young actors the performance techniques for two Kunqu classics.

On June 16, Zhou Xuefeng and Shen Fenying will perform "The Palace of Eternal Life", for which they trained under Cai Zhengren and Zhang Jingxian.
A performance of excerpts on June 17 includes many of the classic Kunqu Opera roles, to be performed by young stars.
