Music-theatre show to be staged

May 04, 2012
Percussionist Steven Schick will perform the Paul Dresher Ensemble's latest music theatre work Schick Machine in July.

The story is about sound collector and sonic inventor Laslo Klangfarben who attempts to create the ‘Schick Machine’, a device that consumes his every waking and dreaming moment.

Dresher is the production's composer, instrument inventor and builder. He is an internationally active composer noted for his ability to integrate diverse musical influences into this own coherent and unique personal style.

Schick has premiered more than 100 works for percussion and performed at various major concerts and festivals internationally over the past three decades.

The show will be staged at 8pm on July 6 and 7, and at 4pm on July 8, at the Cultural Centre. A free post-performance talk will be held on July 6.

Tickets are available at URBTIX. Click here for details or call 2268 7323.
