The Government will subsidise 2,776 students to pursue full-time local self-financing undergraduate programmes in selected disciplines in the 2018-19 academic year, to nurture talent to meet human resources demand and diversify study opportunities.
The scheme will cover healthcare, architecture and engineering, testing and certification, the creative industry, computer science, financial technology, insurance, logistics, tourism and hospitality, and sports and recreation, which have keen demand for manpower.
Subsidised allocation will mainly go through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System to ensure students are selected on the basis of merit.
Students will receive up to $70,000 in subsidies during their chosen programmes, which will run from four to five years.
