Good habit:  Director of Health Dr Constance Chan (first row, fourth right) celebrates the "EatSmart@school.hk" Campaign's 10th anniversary.

The "EatSmart@school.hk" Campaign jointly organised by the Department of Health and the Education Bureau has celebrated its 10th anniversary.

At the anniversary ceremony today, Director of Health Dr Constance Chan said the scheme has gained the full support of the education sector over the years to create a healthy eating environment for school children.

Over 240 primary schools, about one-third of all primary schools in Hong Kong, have enrolled in the scheme while more than 100 of them have attained accreditation, she said.

Of all the accredited schools, about 80% have achieved the highest honour of EatSmart School.

This year four schools achieved EatSmart School accreditation for the third time consecutively. They are Five Districts Business Welfare Association Chow Chin Yau School, North Point Government Primary School (Cloud View Road), Po Leung Kuk Fong Wong Kam Chuen Primary School, and Diocesan Girls' Junior School.

They were presented with the Award for Continuous Promotion of Healthy Eating at School in commendation of their commitment to helping students develop healthy eating habits.

Dr Chan thanked the principals, teachers, parents and students of participating schools, as well as the food suppliers, for supporting the scheme.

She also expressed her gratitude for the long term support and guidance of the Education Bureau and members of the EatSmart@school.hk Campaign Steering Committee, which have enabled the smooth running of the ESS Campaign in the past 10 years.
