HK students win 6 medals

Secretary for Education Eddie Ng has congratulated Hong Kong students for winning a gold medal and five bronze medals, plus eight honourable mentions and a special award at the 17th Asian Physics Olympiad.

 

This year's competition, hosted by the University of Science & Technology from May 1 to 9, was for the first time held in Hong Kong, attracting participation from a record 26 countries and regions.

 

Tai Wai-ting from Queen Elizabeth School won the gold medal, while the bronze medal winners were from La Salle College, Shun Tak Fraternal Association Leung Kau Kui College, Diocesan Boys' School, GT (Ellen Yeung) College and Good Hope School.

 

Li Yang-hong from Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School won the Most Creative Solution in Experimental Examination award and an honourable mention.

 

The other honourable mentions went to students from Diocesan Boy's School, Queen's College, Ying Wah College, St Margaret's Co-Educational English Secondary and Primary School, La Salle College, Wah Yan College, and Diocesan Girls' School.

 

Commending the students, Mr Ng said the Education Bureau is strengthening science, technology, engineering and mathematics to enhance Hong Kong’s international competitiveness in science and technology.
