The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.3% in October-December, matching that for the September-November period, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
The underemployment rate increased to 1.4%.
Increases in unemployment were mainly seen in the information and communications sector.
Total employment was 3,803,900, compared to 3,790,600 for September-November.
The labour force increased by 5,800 workers to 3,925,500.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung said while the labour market held stable last year, in view of considerable downside risks to the near-term economic outlook, especially the sustained weak trend in inbound tourism, the Government will stay vigilant and closely monitor developments, particularly the grassroots' employment situation.
