Elderly Commission members named

July 17, 2015

The Government today appointed seven new members and re-appointed nine members to the Elderly Commission.

Cheung Leong, Victor Lam, Susan So, Dr Doris Tse, Wong Kit-loong, Kenneth Wong and Yeung Ka-ching will join the commission on July 30, for two years.

Chairman Prof Alfred Chan, Vice-Chairman Dr Lam Ching-choi, and seven incumbent members - Lilian Chan, Maggie Chan, Grace Chan, Henry Shie, Dr Tung Sau-ying, Jackson Wong and Doris Wong - were also re-appointed for a two-year term.

Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung said that the commission plays an increasingly important role in advising the Government on the elderly policies and initiatives in view of the rapidly aging population.

The bureau will fully consider the commission’s advice in devising policies for seniors, he added.

Mr Cheung also thanked outgoing members Dr Felix Chan, Cheng Kam-chung, Cheung Moon-wah, Alice Chong, Patrick Ma, Timothy Ma and Stephen Yau for their contributions to the commission.
