HK education world class: Eddie Ng

May 23, 2014

Hong Kong shares a common vision with leading education systems around the world, and the Government will work with stakeholders to provide effective education, Secretary for Education Eddie Ng says.

Speaking on the final day of his visit to Belgium and Finland, Mr Ng emphasised the importance of nurturing the next generation through planned measures such as three-year free kindergarten education, IT education, early life planning for secondary students, and vocational education, which are common among leading education systems abroad.

"There is indeed good experience around the world that Hong Kong can learn from," he said.

In Finland, Mr Ng visited Sakarinmäki School in Helsinki to see how facilities' designs can cater to students of different ages, and the Viikki Teacher Training School, which combines student and teacher education.

Mr Ng will return to Hong Kong tomorrow.
