Aid offered after school closes

The Education Bureau will provide support to parents affected by a Tin Shui Wai kindergarten's closure, Secretary for Education Eddie Ng says.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Ng said he fully understands parents’ concerns. The bureau has urged other kindergartens in the district to provide information on vacancies, and is now looking for an alternate site for the kindergarten.
He added there are about 1,500 vacant places in the district, and the kindergarten voucher scheme covers 1,100 of them.
He urged school sponsoring bodies to prioritise students’ interests.
In response to questions on whether it is legal for a new school sponsoring body to take students and fees, Mr Ng said no school can take students before registering with the bureau, and can charge only enrolment deposits before May 1.
The bureau will look into the issue, he added.
