CS urges students to join education committee

September 02, 2012
Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says she is willing to continue listening to the views of parents’ concern groups, school organisations, and students on the issue of moral and national education, and hopes they will make use of the Committee on the Implementation of Moral & National Education to discuss the issue in a rational and frank manner.

Speaking to the media after participating in a radio programme today, Mrs Lam also called on students to join the committee so the Government can listen to their views directly, as hearing their views from outside channels may not be the best way.

She said she is willing to communicate directly with parents and students if they wish.

Mrs Lam said she is worried about the health and sentiment of the students who staged a hunger strike. She said it does not mean she disagrees with their methods of expression, as the students are free to express themselves.

She said the Government objects to any brain washing.
