Customs officers arrested one person and seized drugs, counterfeit goods and unlicensed pharmaceuticals worth more than $5.5 million from airmail and express cargo at the airport during the Singles' Day sales period from November 12 to 28.
They arrested the 29-year-old man after finding 44kg of cocaine, heroin, gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), synthetic cathinone (bath salts) and fentanyl.
They also seized 1,133 apparel items and 3,598 tablets, both counterfeit, and more than 1,200 illegally imported tablets.
The Customs & Excise Department warned it will boost enforcement at all control points during the Christmas and New Year period to combat smuggling and drug trafficking, and reminded the public not to import prohibited and controlled items when buying seasonal gifts online.
