Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo inaugurated the Tseung Kwan O Police District at a ceremony at Tseung Kwan O Police Station today.
He upgraded Tseung Kwan O Police Division to an independent police district under Kowloon East Region.
The upgrade is to meet the policing needs of Tseung Kwan O which has a population of 440,000 and is expected to grow to 500,000 by 2024.
With an establishment of 434 officers, the new police district has crime squads, as well anti-triad and intelligence sections.
There is also a community relations office, along with the Senior Police Call and Junior Police Call.
