The Immigration Department has urged the public to beware of phone messages from people claiming to be from the department.
It issued the warning today saying it does not send prerecorded voice calls to the public, nor does it ask people to provide information such as bank account numbers and passwords.
It reminded people not to readily disclose their personal information and to verify the identity of a caller.
If there is doubt about a call they should immediately report it to Police.
