Gov't probing Thailand detention

October 05, 2016

Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen says the Government has contacted the Thai Consulate-General in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand to inquire about the detention of Demosisto's Joshua Wong in the kingdom.

Departing for his official visit to Thailand today, he told the media at the airport the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will protect the personal safety of Hong Kong people and the rights they are entitled to, but they should also observe local laws when in other countries.

Mr Yuen also said he will try to get more information during his trip.
